Main: Thread of Darkness

Nearly four months have passed since your encounter with the temporal disturbance generated by the N’Tel. Arcturus has spent some time doing some research on events happening in the Republic and back in Human territory. The war with the Chaluuk has continued, with border conflicts occurring nearly every day, but with neither side making any progress. The Sol’k have done little since the last he communicated with them. Having lived so long in their underground home, they have grown accustomed. Arcturus’ attempts to communicate with Velkinor were unsuccessful; the guardians reported no changes have been observed. He hasn’t had enough time to learn much about the U.C.I. yet, in particular the decisions they’ve been making for Humanity.

Of course Arcturus and Fetek have had plenty of time to catch-up with friends and associates, as well as getting chores, work, duty, etc. done.

Curretnly, Fetek and crew are aboard the Harriet Tubman, mid-run transporting cargo to the Oaoae Nwo system. Arcturus is at the Solani Temple in the Kinlachitobo system, sitting in on a council meeting, when a call is received from the Republic Senate.

Onscreen is Xang Tolo, the Uhmbolo senator. “Greetings Maz’tor Roparu, con’chel’lores.”

“Greetings Senator.”

“I must disregard pleasantries and attend to duty.”

“Of course. How may we be of service?”

“Report from P.D.F. stationed in sector A 6,1 indicates sensor detection of abnormal activities on planet A61P7.”

Arcturus says, “One of the protected systems. What kind of activity?”

“Advanced technology exceeding prior observed level of aboriginal technology.”

Kokani Omshimand ask, “Has there been any reports from orbital patrols of any ships entering the system?”

“P.D.F. patrol logs indicate authorized Navy ships only during duty rotation. No log entries exist of any observation of ships entering planet environment.

“Visual confirmation of abnormal activities of vital consequence, yet delicate quality of assignment will require operatives of elite qualifications.”

Yegani Roparu responds, “If Senator is requesting we task knights of the Solani to this mission, we agree.”

“Marvelous. Expectations are operatives shall observe abnormal activity lacking exposure. Should abnormal activities result in behavior of external entities, operatives should assess prerogative to mitigate entity activities.”

“We understand Senator. Our knights shall do as directed.”

“Furthermore, operatives are strictly denied possession of technology progressive of aboriginal.”

“We will discuss with the council and choose the best knights to send. They will depart as soon as arrangements can be made.”

“I am grateful. Please keep us informed of operative observations. Conclusion.” The screen goes black as the call is ended.

Yegani Roparu ask, “What are the Kokani suggestions for which Usami to send?”

“Usami Piok Tou possess some ability to cloak her appearance, which would help avoid detection”, suggests Nimalwu.

“I fear most will not deal well without their equipment should there be a conflict,” advises Omshimand.

[T]pahp and Wep Iuii confer in hushed voices, but make no suggestions.

Arcturus states, “If I may suggest, perhaps this is a mission better suited for myself. I have skills and experience with matters as delicate as this and I know of a few others who might join me that have similar capabilities.”

Roparu asks, “Do any Kokani object?” None give any objection. “Very well, Kokani Astrum is in command of this operation. He will assure all in his company adhere to the directives given by the Senator. We wish Arcturus good fortune.”
