  Armor Reinforcements

Cloth and leather armor can be specially reinforced to provide better protection, giving a +1 DR vs. cut damage; +25% cost and weight. This reinforcement comes in three variations, only one of each can be applied to a single piece of armor.

  • Studded - small metal disks, rivets or togs attached across the armor.
  • Ring Mail - metal rings (approx. 1-2" in size) are sewn onto the armor.
  • Splinted - strips of metal riveted to the outside of the armor.

Expert Tailoring: a master armor smith can produce an exceptional quality for a piece of armor, reducing weight by 15%; cost +400%.

Fluting: a master armor smith can craft scale or plate armor to have specially designed ribs or bosses in the metal which retain the strength but reduce the weight by 10%; cost +400%.

Layering Armor
Any armor that is flexible can be layered under other layers of armor, applying a -1 DX for one additional layer or -2 DX for two or more additional layers.

Sneaking in Armor
Armor is noisy, incurring a Stealth penalty equal to halve DR (round up). If armor DR varies by hit location, use the piece with the highest penalty.

Armor can be colored/painted and adorned in such a was as to provide a bonus to Stealth, using the Camouflage skill.

Weapons

Most weapons crafted in this world, especially those used by militia, brigands, and city guards, will be of cheap quality (+2 to break, -1 Acc when thrown, 40% list price). Weapons of good quality are generally reserved for knights and nobility, and fine weapons are only crafted by true master smiths for those of the highest ranks within the kingdom.
